I think this whole piece of proportional representation, secret ballot, show of hands for Senate elections is totally effed up. So here’s what proportional representation means. If a party has “x” number of seats in the electoral college, which comprise both the National and Provincial Assemblies then it automatically gets “y” number of Senate seats. In simple terms it means a single Punjab MPA vote has 25% weight age as compared to a single Baluchistan MPA vote, to reflect the low number of Baluchistan Assembly Members and the larger number of Punjab Assembly Members and therefore create parity.
