Shaniera Akram wants to join the police force to combat child abuse

July 30, 2021:  Shaniera Akram condemned rape and murder of a 6 year old in Karachi and said she wished she could apprehend monsters behind woman and child abuse herself.

Shaniera Akram published a series of tweets condemning the ongoing atrocities against women and children after another incident of rape and murder of a minor came to light in Karachi yesterday.

After explaining the gravity of the situation, Shaniera Akram insisted that she would like to join the police force, or that the Rangers themselves would like to catch these “monsters”.

This time it is six-year-old girl, who was reported missing from the Korangi area of Karachi around 9pm on Tuesday night, was reported missing on Wednesday, police said.

She was killed after being raped. After an eight-hour search, the minor’s body was found in a garbage dump near her home, and a dozen suspects were arrested and taken into custody for questioning. The victim was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for medical legal formalities and it was revealed that the girl was raped, sodomized and then murdered.

“Things have to change, its got to stop. In the current situation, no child is safe in Pakistan,” Shaniera Akram said in a tweet, highlighting the deep-rooted issue of child sexual abuse in Pakistan. We are not just dealing with predators and hidden spiders in our communities. We are currently dealing with predators whose sole intention is to abuse and kill their children!

Shaniera Akram continued, “Until every child is safe, No children are safe! This little girl, the same age as mine, went out to play and never came back. Tell me to stop talking about it, Go on I dare you?? This happened 20 min from my home. This happened in my city, this happening in our country. And this keeps on happening! Tell me to stop? I won’t! #6yearOldRapedAndMurdered #Korangi #Karachi.”

Shaniera further added, “Stop telling me this happens everywhere. I’m telling you it’s happening in Pakistan. And I refuse to ignore it until our country does something about it! Too much pain, too much blood spilled. Not enough awareness. Not enough is being done to stop it. When will it end?”

During his recent appearance on PBSO Newsover, PM Imran Khan clarified his position on the rising number of sexual crimes in Pakistan, stressing that only rapists are responsible for rape.

However, he also said that “the incidence of rape in Pakistan is less than in Western countries”, adding that “our problems are cultural issues, which belong to every nation. But as far as women’s dignity is concerned. This society gives more dignity and respect to women.”

In her final tweet, Shaniera Akram said, “Forget about going into politics,” something Mahwish Hayat is considering these days, adding, “I don’t mind these monsters myself. I want to join the police force and Rangers to get these monsters myself. Nothing will make me  more happy! “
