SHC dismisses students’ petition to delay MDCAT 2020

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday rejected the petition of students to postpone the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT 2020) scheduled for November 29 (Sunday).
According to details, students had been demanding the authorities concerned to reschedule the test because of the growing number of coronavirus positive cases in the country.
Furthermore, the SHC has rejected the decision of students to take entrance test for admission in medical colleges on two dates. According to details, the petition against the entrance test for admission in medical colleges on two separate dates was heard in the SHC. After hearing the arguments of the parties, the court rejected the request of the students to take the entrance test on two different dates.

The Sindh High Court directed the Pakistan Medical Commission to ensure implementation of coronavirus SOPS and directed that students, supervisors and all staff strictly implement SOPs during the entrance test.

It may be recalled that earlier five universities and students of Sindh had challenged the law of uniform test while the date of entry test was fixed on November 15 under Pakistan Medical Council.
However, this month, the SHC had canceled the scheduled entry test on November 15 in a case related to the dispute over the entrance test for admission in medical colleges between the federation and Sindh.
