Shehbaz Sharif rejects govt’s proposal of E-Voting
Lahore, 2nd May: PML-N Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif presented his position on the use of electronic voting machines.
Baaghi TV: PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif has rejected the proposal to use an electronic voting machine.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared it unworkable, Shehbaz Sharif said. With confidence, the focus of the people’s aspirations is the parliament, which has been locked for 3 years.
He added that electoral reforms are possible with the consultation of all parties, in light of public opinion and consensus. No one objected to the electoral reforms at that time.
The consensus document and the historic document of the signed electoral reforms still exist today. When the opposition was talking about positive proposals, the Charter of Economy, NRO was insulted.
“The country’s reputation is enhanced by justice, transparency and the rule of law, not by electronic voting machines. We can carry out electoral reforms. We are encouraged to take political opponents along and adopt their suggestions. Instead of voting, worry about the devastated economy, inflation, people dying of unemployment,” Shehbaz Sharif said.
