Lahore, 18th January: In the wake of increasing cases of the coronavirus pandemic, a smart lockdown has been imposed in Punjab.
Baaghi TV: Punjab government has imposed smart lockdown in some areas of Lahore and Gujranwala due to a rise in COVID-19 cases.
The Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department of Punjab issued a directive to impose a smart lockdown in 17 areas of Lahore and three in Gujranwala.
Areas in Lahore
Areas in Gujranwala include Aulakh Street near Girls College Wazirabad, Khawaja Palace Model Town and Allah Wala Market Madina Colony.
Conditions of a Lockdown
As per the directive, all gatherings and events will be completely banned, besides closure of all shopping malls, restaurants, as well as government and private offices. Whereas, only one person and a vehicle will be allowed to move at a time.
Medicine shops and pharmacies will remain open for 24 hours a day while bakeries, meat, milk and fish shops will be opened from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Grocery stores, flour mills, tandoor, petrol pumps, fruit, vegetable shops will be opened from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Earlier it was reported on January 3, that the government had imposed a smart lockdown in 8 areas in Lahore and one each in Gujranwala and Multan after an alarming increase in coronavirus cases.
