Meesha Shafi-Ali Zafar Case: Arrest warrants issued for Ali Gul Pir

Lahore, 18th January: Arrest warrants have been issued against Ali Gul Pir, a Pakistani rapper-actor, in Ali Zafar-Meesha Shafi’s ongoing harassment case.

Baaghi TV: According to reports, a court has issued arrest warrants against Ali Gul Pir who is a close associate of singer Meesha Shafi.

Earlier in the day, Baaghi TV reported that the Federal Investigating Agency (FIA) was supposed to file a final interim challan in the court, under which the accused were to be prosecuted, but now the FIA has asked the court for more time to file a final interim challan against all the accused.

It may be remembered that today the case was heard in the court of Lahore Judicial Magistrate Zulfiqar Bari, where the accused, including FIA lawyers, and Ali Zafar’s lawyers were present.

The alleged campaigners Leena Ghani, Iffat Umar, Fareeha Ayub, Faizan Raza and Haseem appeared before the magistrate but Meesha Shafi and Ali Gul Pir did not appear in today’s hearing.

Ali Gul Pir failed to appear in the court on Monday despite a prior notification sent to him, after which his arrest warrants have been issued.

Meesha Shafi’s lawyer requested the court that she is currently out of the country and her attendance should be waived.

The court has expressed annoyance over the absence of the accused Ali Gul Pir at today’s hearing. However, the FIA’s lawyer has asked for more time to complete the investigation.

The court has warned the FIA to complete the investigation against Meesha Shafi and present her in court.

The court adjourned the case till February 9.

It is to be noted that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has convicted singer Meesha Shafi and eight others of running a deviant campaign against singer Ali Zafar on social media, prompting the trial court to initiate proceedings against them.

The FIA’s Cyber Crime Lahore Wing filed an interim challan before the Special Judge Central Court last month in Dec 2020 on a complaint filed by Mr Zafar.
