
LAHORE: The district administration has reportedly proposed the installation of a micro-smart lockdown in thirteen areas of Lahore, due to the alarming rise in COVID-19 cases, during the fourth wave of the virus spread across Pakistan.
According to the details, the district administration has proposed lockdown in hotspot areas: Allama Iqbal Town, EME Society, Johar Town L-Block, Aziz Bhatti Town C-Block, Green City. While, in other areas, Walton Road, Shami Road, Sanda, Gulshan Ravi, and Muslim Town are also included.
Meanwhile, according to the statistics released by the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), the death toll is reported to be 23,360 while the total number of cases has reached 1,029,811 across Pakistan. During the last 24-hours, a further 65 people have been declared dead from the virus while 4,950 new cases have surfaced.
Additionally, the authorities have confirmed the positivity ratio to be 8.46% in Pakistan during the fourth wave. Statistics show 70% of delta virus cases in Punjab, as Epsilon cases surface.
On the other hand, in view of the increasing cases of Corona, a complete lockdown has been imposed in Sindh till August 8. Inter-city transport is also closed during the lockdown. The administration will check the vaccination cards of those coming on the road.
All government offices will also be closed from next week. According to the decision, those who do not get vaccinated will not be paid after August 31. However, the export industry and medical stores will remain open during the lockdown. Assistance will be sought from federal law enforcement agencies to implement SOPs.
Consequently, the NCOC has expressed concern over the rapid spread of Coronavirus in Karachi. The NCOC has decided to extend all possible assistance to the Sindh government in dealing with the pandemic spread.
