The Multan Sultans’ right-hander, Sohaib Maqsood, has been included in the national squad for the upcoming tour of England and West Indies.

According to the details, Maqsood has been included in the national squad in place of Haider Ali, who has been suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) along with Umaid Asif for violating the biosecure protocols for the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

As a result, Haider Ali and Umaid Asif of Peshawar Zalmi will not play in the final against Multan Sultans today.

The Pakistani squad is due to leave for England tomorrow. Sohaib Maqsood is lucky to be part of the national squad 24 hours before his departure.

Chief selector Pakistan cricket team Muhammad Waseem, after consulting with captain Babar Azam and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq, added Sohaib Maqsood to the squad as a replacement for Haider Ali.

Sohaib Maqsood has scored 363 runs in 11 matches of PSL 6 so far. During this time, his run-scoring average was 40.33 and strike rate was close to 153. Sohaib Maqsood has previously represented Pakistan in 26 ODIs and 20 T20 Internationals. He last represented Pakistan in 2016.

The National Selection Committee was being criticized for Haider Ali’s continued failure and there was talk of including in-form batsman Sohaib Maqsood in the team. Recently, National High Performance Centre (NHPC) batting coach Mohammad Yousuf had also said in a media talk that Sohaib Maqsood is in these forms and he should take advantage of them.
