Spanish President Pedro Sánchez said on Thursday that he has tested Covid positive and that he would skip the G20 Summit in New Delhi.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Sánchez said he was feeling “fine” but he would not be able to travel to India. He further said that Spain, at the Leaders’ Summit, will be represented by acting First Vice-President Nadia Calvino and Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares.

Sánchez is the third world leader to have pulled out of the G20 Summit. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin are the other two leaders who will not be visiting Delhi.

The G20 summit in the national capital will be held on September 9 and 10.

Leaders of all G20 countries and nine other states (Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain and the UAE) have been invited to attend.
