As per reports from the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), at the behest of the Government of Pakistan, a special PIA flight arrived in Pakistan with 1.5 million vaccines on Sunday.

PK 6852 reached Islamabad from China at 11.30 am today. After offloading half of the number in Islamabad, the plane will leave for Karachi at 1.30 pm.

Hence, half of the vaccine dose will be administered in Karachi.

The vaccine is part of a regular contract purchased from China. Another consignment of two million doses of Chinese vaccines will arrive in Pakistan next week on June 22.

Earlier, Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar had said that a consignment of 1.5 million vaccines was arriving today while another 5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine would reach the country in the next ten days.

The federal minister’s statement on Sunday came at a time when there have been reports of a shortage of vaccines in the country’s major vaccination centers for the past two days.
