Lahore (18th July, 2019): Chairman Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) likely to be replaced by Javed Ghani as per ongoing speculation.
According to Baaghi TV’s reports, ProPakistani claims the Federal Board of Revenue is expected to reshuffle their upper tier of management. As per ongoing speculation, the current Chairman FBR, is likely to be replaced by Javed Ghani, Member Policy Customs.
So far the decision has not been finalized, however, it is speculated that Prime Minister Imran Khan will reportedly promote Shabbar Zaidi to Special Advisor to PM on Revenue and/or Minister of State for Revenue. While answering questions related to the possible changes, Shabbar Zaidi stated that he has no idea and that the decision is up to PM Khan.
Moreover, it is being reported that Pakistan’s business community is not satisfied with Zaidi due to the tax machinery’s efforts of broadening the tax net. However, it has been reported that Zaidi has rumored to have stated planning is ongoing for long-term modifications.

The changes, however, are likely to take place after the final decision on Zaidi’s replacement.
