Lahore: A stressful body, mind and environment hits the productive activities hard therefore management of these issues is direly needed to ensure a good amount of productivity.
This was upshot of the speeches delivered by the LCCI Vice President Haris Ateeq, LCCI Executive Committee Member Shamim Akhtar, Professor Dr. Umair Rashid Ch., Dr. Tahir Mehmood Khan, Irfan Shahid and experts from different sectors while speaking at a seminar on “Creating Wealth through Healthy Body & Mind” at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
The Experts said that a healthy body and a mind save time and energy but money as well. Unhealthy and stressful body and mind have direct bearing on the efficiency of a person in general and industrial worker in particular and resultantly on an industrial unit therefore a proper strategy to manage stress must be part of training of top management officials.
They quoted a number of examples whereby an industrial unit touched the zenith by adopting stress management strategies or by implement best business doing practices.
LCCI Vice President Haris Ateeq said that businessmen or professionals keep themselves busy in doing a number of things to earn living for our families and for securing our future. The businesses are also the source of employment for many people.
He said that we all need to realize that healthy body and mind are equally important for ourselves, businesses/professions, family members, clients and employees. If we fall sick then the entire chain gets disturbed. So it is very important that we maintain our physical and mental health through taking various measures on regular basis.
The LCCI Vice President said that we need to understand that careless attitude towards oneself and over-engagement in routine work seriously impacts the health. If we continue with same approach for long then it may cause illness and for sure it will affect our relationships, daily routines, lifestyle, decision making, thought process, liking, disliking, temperament, sleep duration and many other things related to human behaviours.
He said there is a general perception that if you are making good amount of income through getting over-engaged then you should not worry as you can afford to have the best medical facilities in case of falling ill. It is not an appropriate approach as when you develop multiple health issues then all your income is spent on medicines and you are never able to fully regain your vigor even after getting cured.
Haris Ateeq said that there are number of reasons which are contributing one way or other in affecting our physical and mental health. We are living in a society where there are family issues, social problems, financial constraints, anxieties, security threats, complexes and above all fears of unknown. Above all, our own lifestyle – when it totally negates work-life balance then it becomes the key reason of developing illnesses like diabetes, blood pressure and heart related issues.
LCCI Vice President “It is common experience that in a because of stressful and unhealthy body, the efficiency of a worker or an officer nose dive while in a stress free atmosphere and healthy body, the efficiency of worker even surpasses his or her abilities.”
LCCI Executive Committee Member Shamim Akhtar said that wealth is created when we work to our true potation in a given environment. She said that COVID-19 has given us few lessons. “We have to focus on our mental and physical health to stay fit so that we can fight back against such adverse circumstances”, she said.
