PEMRA suspends the license of a private TV channel
It is to be noted that Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) had immediately suspended the license of private TV channel Neo TV which was illegally broadcasting news and current affairs content.
The PEMRA statement said that their management had repeatedly warned Neo TV to stop airing news and current affairs content and ordered them to broadcast entertainment content as per its license.
PEMRA’s order was challenged in the Islamabad High Court. The apex court rejected the request to change the category of the channel’s license.
Due to non-compliance with the license category, PEMRA has suspended the license issued to Art Infiniti Pvt. Ltd. under the name “Neo TV”.
