Lahore, 6th May: The Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) in Pakistan has immediately suspended the license of a private TV channel with immediate effect.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, PEMRA has ordered to stop Neo TV for broadcasting news and current affairs programs immediately and revert back to its entertainment programming in accordance with the terms and conditions of their license.

According to PEMRA, the management of the private channel has a license to broadcast entertainment programs and they have been issued several notices for violating the law which was not complied with.

However, Neo TV failed to adhere to the same and challenged the decision of the PEMRA before Honorable Islamabad High Court. The High court has dismissed the plea for a change of category to News and Current Affairs and upheld PEMRA’s decision.

Due to the non-compliance of the channel to the court’s order, PEMRA suspends license conferred to M/s Fun Infotainment Pvt. Ltd. ‘Neo TV’ with immediate effect.
