Supreme Court Rejects Bail Plea in Hashmat College Case

Islamabad (15th Oct, 2019): Supreme Court (SC) rejects bail plea of Usman Mukhtar, Director of Hashmat Medical College.
According to reports, Supreme Court has dismissed bail pleas for Director of Hashmat Medical College, Usman Mukhtar. Reportedly, a three member bench presided over by Justice Mazoor Malik, had taken up the hearing on Tuesday.
Sources have confirmed that Justice Manzoor Malik made the following observation in the course of the hearing that those affected by the Hashmat Medical College [management] had “seen some dreams” concerning their children that “their children become doctors after getting higher education”. However, it is not known where loan was acquired in hopes of seeking admission.
Moreover, as stated by Justice Qazi, the “Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) have stopped [the] medical college from offering admissions”. It has further been reported by the counsel that the owner of Hashmat Medical College has been granted bail while, Usman Mukhtar only served as an employee.
Justice Manzoor Malik stated that nearly thirty-two cases have been registered against the client. He added that the “affectees have no enmity with them”. As confirmed by sources, counsel has requested going to trial for bail. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has rejected the plea for Dr Usman Mukhtar.
