Taliban killed 51 civilians in Afghanistan last week
The Afghan ministry of interior said Saturday 51 civilians were killed and another 137 received injuries in different Taliban onslaughts in the past one week.
Spokesman for the ministry, Tariq Aryan said that the militants staged 356 offensive attacks and carried out two suicide bombings and 52 landmine explosion in several areas of the country.
At least 403 militants were also killed and 140 others wounded within last week in counterattacks by the Afghan security forces.
Aryan didn’t provide information about the Afghan security forces casualties.
The Amnesty International in a statement expressed its concerns on the rise in violence in Afghanistan, calling on the international community to pay serious attention to the situation in Afghanistan. According to the Amnesty International, the ongoing month is the deadliest of the year with 180 civilians killed and more than 370 others wounded.
