Sept 21, 2021: Taliban cabinet deputy minster for information and culture, Zabiullah Mujahid urged more countries to recognise Taliban govt in Afghanistan as he praised peace efforts by PM Imran Khan.
Mujahid said Daesh is an anathema for Afghanistan and that the new government will be look into restoring order in Nangarhar and Jalalabad areas as a priority.
Taliban senior spokesman and Deputy Minister of Information and Culture Zabihullah Mujahid on Tuesday praised Prime Minister Imran Khan and acknowledged his efforts to promote peace in Afghanistan.
Speaking to Afghan media in Kabul, Mujahid said countries were criticizing human rights violations without recognizing the Taliban government. “We think this is a one-sided approach,” he stressed. Mujahid called on all critics of the Taliban to recognize its government in Afghanistan and “treat it responsibly”.
“Those who recognize the Taliban administration in Afghanistan can legally raise issues with the new government,” he said.
“Once they recognize the Afghan government, we will work to address their concerns,” he said.
Mujahid revealed that the Afghan government had arrested two groups of people for their alleged involvement in recent attacks in Nangarhar Province. “The people of Afghanistan hate ISIS,” he said. “Our operations against ISIS have been successful in the past,” the deputy minister said, adding that the Taliban knew how to deal with a technical blow.
He condemned the terrorist incidents in Nangarhar and Jalalabad, adding that the new government would soon restore peace in the areas.
Mujahid said the group did not want any country to interfere in Afghanistan’s internal affairs. However, he added that the Taliban would welcome the cooperation of the international community. “Afghanistan will soon see stability despite the challenges,” he said.
