The case of special flights to Saudi Arabia
Special permits granted for 21 more flights to PIA, thanks to special efforts of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. According to reports of Baaghi TV, last night the CEO of PIA, Air Marshal Arshad Malik, had asked the Prime Minister to play a role in resolving the people’s grievances related to pricing and overcrowding. After using high-level diplomatic means, only PIA was allowed to issue more flights exclusively. Most of the stays, which are due to expire on September 30, caused an unusual rush to PIA offices and agents. Some elements took advantage of the situation and started selling tickets at expensive rates. The CEO of PIA took notice of the matter, published the original fare and sought permission for more flights. PIA has 23 weekly flights to Saudi Arabia from various cities in Pakistan, with a capacity of 12,000 people. Operating 13 more flights, keeping in view the rules of social distance, created a further capacity of 3500, much less than the demand. With the addition of 21 more flights to the system with the intervention of the Prime Minister, the capacity of PIA has increased to 25,500.
