“The Wolf of Wall Street” Producer Charged with Money Laundering

Kuala Lumpur (5th July, 2019): Malaysian Producer of Hollywood film “The Wolf of Wall Street” allegedly charged for illegally receiving approximately $250 million from state fund 1MDB.
According to Baaghi TV’s sources, the Malaysian producer, Mr. Riza Aziz who is also the step-son of former Malaysian leader, Najb Razak, were allegedly with illegally receiving money from state fund of 1MDB. While Riza Aziz pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the five charges of money laundering, he is accused of having received nearly $248.17 million in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
The illegal proceeds were apparently originated from the “scandal-hit Malaysian fund”, which were reportedly sent to accounts of the Hollywood Company which was co-found by the Malaysian producer, the Red Granite Pictures. Aziz has produced Hollywood films such as Leonardo DiCaprio’s, “The Wolf on Wall Street”, as well the Jim Carry hits, “Dumb and Dumber To” and “Daddy’s Home” among others.
It has been reported that billions of dollars were apparently embezzled from the 1MDB funds, by the ex-PM Najik Razak and his followers, who have since then faced major backlash globally. Moreover, Prosecutor Gopal Sri Ram who is overseeing the proceedings, in conversation with the media stated, that the “money received by Riza came from 1MDB” and that it had been channeled by means of investment companies previously linked to the 1MDB scandal that involved the former PM.
Sources confirm that Riza Aziz who is the son of former First Lady, Rosmah Mansor, has been released after he posted a bail of nearly $1 million ringgit which approximates to an amount of $240,000. Furthermore, the Anti-corruption investigators arrested him Thursday in Malaysia after he had been taken in for questioning.
According to reports, the US Department of Justice was the first to accuse Red Granite for being funded with stolen money, therefore, the assets bought with 1MDB money in the US are in the process of being seized by the US Department of Justice.
Najib Razak who is step-father to the Hollywood producer, Riza Aziz, was removed from power during elections last year. Malaysia’s new government has reportedly re-opened probes into 1DB. Moreover, Aziz’s mother Rosmah Mansor has also been taken into custody and charged over the 1MDB funds fraud.
