Islamabad: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will reportedly run the world’s tallest and longest cable car. It will cover a distance of 14 km from Upper Dir to Lower Chitral.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to launch the Upper Dir to Lower Chitral cable car project.
A meeting of the Tourism Department was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan, in which it was decided to start the Upper Dir to Lower Chitral cable car project.
The meeting also approved to start work on feasibility study and engineering design of the project.
The meeting was briefed that the project would be completed at a cost of Rs. 32 billion and the feasibility study would be completed in 5 to 6 months.
It was informed in the briefing that the cable car would be constructed from Kumrat Upper Dir to Madakalisht Lower Chitral with a total length of 14 km.
The briefing said that the completion of the project is expected to attract 8 million domestic and foreign tourists annually. The project will also have car parking and restaurant facilities at the stations.
