London (24 May, 2019): Britain’s PM Theresa May, in a public statement has resigned as Tory Leader.
According to reports, Theresa May has made her statement to resign. She said that she always strives to make the UK a country that “works for many” and not few, and “to deliver Brexit”. May will reportedly stand down from office on the 7th of June, 2019.
She feels she has done her best to deliver Brexit:
“I have done everything I can to convince MPs to back that deal … sadly I have not been able to do so.”
May is expected to resign as the leader of the Conservative party on Friday the 7th of June. She will leave once a new leader has been finalized.
According to sources, May continued to say that not being able to deliver Brexit will remain a great regret for her. She mentioned in the press conference that she is proud to have served as the second female Prime Minister.
May quoted Nicholas Winton: “compromise is not a dirty word”.
Sources claim, Theresa May is hopeful that the Conservative party will continue to serve the British people for many years to come. She discussed that the “importance” of the Prime Minister is to “fight ‘burning justice'” a phrase she had used prior to this at the beginning of her premiership.
“Our politics may be under strain but there is so much that is good about this country. So much to be proud of. So much to be optimistic about.”
