Srinagar, 11th May: Indian forces are now sleep-deprived in Occupied Kashmir on Badr Day due to the threat of major attacks by freedom fighters.

Baghi TV: Strict security arrangements were made across occupied Kashmir on Monday, the 17th of Ramadan or Badr Day, as security forces feared attacks on their installations in the area.

Last week, since Hizb-ul-Mujahideen’s operational Commander Riyaz Naiko, was martyred along with an aide in Begpura village of Pulwama, mobile internet service has not been restored yet.

According to South Asian Wire, senior officials said that only after the 17th day of Ramadan passed peacefully in Kashmir, 2G services can be restored.

People have reported that the government decided to resume prepaid mobile phone services on Friday night. However, a high-level meeting in Srinagar, attended by senior security officials, decided that Mobile internet connections will be suspended until Monday.

According to Al-Qamar Quran Online, 17 Ramadan is remembered as the Day of Badr, when the first and decisive battle in the history of Islam was fought by a few hundred Muslims against their powerful opponents in Arabia and won according to the Islamic tradition.

Security officials told South Asian Wire that the decision was made to restore the Internet only after the peaceful passing of the 17th of Ramadan, the day of Badr, as there were reports that security forces could be attacked on that day. Given past experience, when militants choose to target security forces on this day, security in Kashmir is enhanced.

There were similar reports of possible attacks on Ramadan 17 last year. In view of the two attacks on the CRPF in the Sopore and Handwara areas of north Kashmir, officials feared that similar attacks could take place on the CRPF.

Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Pandorang’s poll said the suspension of internet connection was temporary. “Mobile internet will be restored soon,” he said.
