Banned TLP chief Saad Rizvi's Detention, Federal Review Board's Big Decision

A meeting of the Federal Review Board has been adjourned on the issue of detention of Hafiz Saad Rizvi, head of the banned Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP).

According to the details, a meeting of the Federal Review Board has been adjourned without any action regarding the detention of Hafiz Saad Rizvi. New date for the meeting will be given later. Saad Rizvi’s release was decided by the High Court which was challenged by the government in the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court had stayed the implementation of the decision of the Lahore High Court (LHC) regarding the release of Hafiz Saad Rizvi, the leader of the banned TLP, and the case was referred back to the High Court for re-hearing.

Earlier, Saad Rizvi’s lawyers said that the third decision of the Supreme Court was for his release. In the first two judgments, the release of Saad Rizvi was ordered by the High Court but he was not released. However, now the decision of the Supreme Court is also being ignored.

The lawyers said that this is a humiliation of the High Court. The government is disobeying the order of the Supreme Court and the third order of release of Saad Rizvi and they are not ready to take up the issue.

The Federal Review Board met on October 9, 2021 at the Supreme Court Lahore Registry in Lahore. The Federal Review Board had ordered the release of Hafiz Saad Rizvi. On the other hand, the delay in the release is again forcing the movement to revert to its old ways. The Federal Review Board rejected the reference of extension of Hafiz Saad Rizvi’s second detention and ordered his immediate release and also ordered that Saad Rizvi should be released if not involved in any other case.
