Saad Hussain Rizvi, head of the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), is likely to be released today from Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.

According to details, the Central Council of TLP has released a video message in which it has said that Saad Rizvi will be released from jail at 5 pm (PST) today.

TLP was banned in April. The government may once again issue a notification of Hafiz Saad Rizvi’s detention to maintain law and order.

It may be mentioned that the Lahore High Court had rejected the petition for extension of detention of Hafiz Saad Rizvi. The petition was heard by a three-member review board and the petition for further extension of detention by the government was rejected by the court. In July, orders were issued to release Hafiz Saad Hussain Rizvi.

When Saad Rizvi was produced before the court, a heavy contingent of police was deployed on the occasion while TLP workers were also present outside the court. He was handcuffed and presented in court.

TLP chief Hafiz Saad Rizvi, son of Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi, was arrested on April 12 from Scheme Mor Chowk, Lahore. Police hindered the April 16 protest of Hafiz Saad Rizvi because of his involvement with the government. Negotiations had failed and the French ambassador’s deportation movement had refused to back down.

After the arrest of Saad Rizvi, there was a commotion all over the country and the government banned TLP. TLP has filed an appeal against the ban on which the government will decide. Hafiz Saad is still in jail and his party is prohibited.
