Nov 25, 2021: On Thursday morning, various parts of the city were shrouded in dense fog which affected the flow of traffic and flights at Jinnah International Airport were delayed.
The fog made it difficult for commuters to reach offices and schools. Areas of Orangi Town, Malir, North Nazimabad and surrounding areas of the city were shrouded in thick fog. The reduced visibility also affected traffic on the Super Highway Link Road and nearby areas.
The Meteorological Department has forecast dry weather in most parts of Sindh. “Light fog / smog is expected in and around Sukkur in the morning hours,” he added.
Due to fog, several flights were delayed at Jinnah International Airport. According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the flight from Karachi to Islamabad, which was scheduled to depart at 7 am, was delayed while the flight to Istanbul failed to take off due to low visibility.
According to CAA Flight Inquiry, flights to Lahore and Peshawar were also delayed. The flight from Karachi to Dubai was also delayed by two hours. CAA officials say flights will be fully restored once the fog subsides.
