Twitter is Part of the Censorship in Kashmir

SRINAGAR (1st Nov, 2019): Micro-blogging site has been accused of censoring free speech in Kashmir.

According to Al jazeera, Twitter has been accused of censoring free speech in Kashmir. Top journalists and activists have raised concerns over the removal of thousands of tweets, alleging that the Twitter is part of the censorship imposed by the Indian government.

Moreover, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has revealed that since 2017, nearly one million tweets have been removed.

Kashmiri human rights activist, Khurram Parvez has stated that the suspension of Twitter accounts of  the Kashmiri people was in sync with the temperament of the Kashmir government, which ordered the shutdown of the internet.

Reportedly, Kashmiri’s slaughter stayed on 89th day under the direction of fascist Modi government in Indian occupied Kashmir. Moreover, people in the Kashmir Valley and Muslim majority areas of Jammu region continue to face hardships due to ban on communications networks.
