Two Pakistani theater plays up on Indian streaming site Zee 5
Sarmad Sultan Khoosat’s talented sister and executive director of Olomopolo Media, Kanwal Khoosat is making her mark on the Indian entertainment scene as two of her stage plays have made it to Zee Theater – an online streaming site that offers recorded plays on its platform.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), which has previously told all its members to stop working with Pakistani artists, has now also banned all online collaborations between entertainers from the two countries after the likes of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Ali Sethi did live online sessions with fellow musicians from India.
The federation sent out a notification warning all its members that anyone found violating the ban will face strict repercussions.
Zee Theater, however, seems to have little regard for the federation’s threat as it openly flouts its rules by making two Pakistani shows available for streaming on its website.
Mushk featuring Sania Saeed and Nimra Bucha is a story of a woman interviewed by a journalist who knows her more than herself. The play will soon make its way to the streaming site, confirmed Zee Theater.
On the other hand, Jhaanjar Di Paanwan Jhankaar is a critically acclaimed play debuted in April 2018 that features Kanwal’s brother Sarmad. The drama also features Zain Afzal and Samiya Mumtaz in lead roles.
