UAE-Israel: Trump to be nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

Washington, 9th September: Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for mediation between the United Arab Emirates and Israel.

According to Reuters, Norwegian MP and leader of the right-wing Progressive Party Christian Tybring-Gjedde has nominated the US president for the world’s biggest award, his second nomination.

“This nomination is for their peace efforts between Israel and the UAE because it is a unique agreement. For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other Peace Prize nominees,” he said.

It may be recalled that on August 13, the UAE announced the establishment of friendly relations with Israel, two weeks after which the Israeli and US delegations arrived in the UAE for the first time to finalize the agreement via Israeli commercial flight.

Trump’s son-in-law and adviser, Jared Kushner, told reporters at an Israeli airport before leaving for the United Arab Emirates: “The whole world will be watching this flight, they will forget the past and move on.”

He said Trump was nominated this year because he withdrew US troops from Iraq.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee, which finalized the names, declined to comment, according to the report.

Donald Trump said last year he deserved the Peace Prize for his efforts in North Korea and Syria but complained that the award as not given to him.

Last year, a Japanese newspaper claimed that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize at the behest of the United States. What a wonderful way to screw people over.

According to media reports, the US government had said that the Japanese Prime Minister had nominated Trump for the Peace Prize after meeting with North Korean President Kim Jong Un.

The deadline for nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize 2020 was June 31, and this year’s winners will be announced on October 9 in Oslo, Norway.

Trump’s political rival and former president Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, the beginning of his first term.

A nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize may be submitted by anybody who meets the nomination criteria.

A person is eligible to nominate another if they are members of national assemblies, national governments, a previous prize winner or university professors among others.
