UAE lifts travel ban to 12 African countries

DUBAI, Feb 4 – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced on Friday that it will allow travel to 12 banned African countries for citizens who are fully vaccinated.

According to details, the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) said in a statement on Friday that “travel bans on 12 African countries have been lifted.”

“From 6 pm on Sunday, February 6, 2022, all Emirati nationals can now travel to countries that have received the required dose of Covid-19 vaccine and have also received booster doses as per the prescribed national program,” the statement added.

“Citizens who have not been vaccinated and are included in the vaccine-exempt categories.”

In addition, UAE citizens will be allowed to travel to these countries under medical and humanitarian conditions.

The 12 African countries whose travel bans have been lifted include Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nigeria, the Republic of Congo, South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.

Earlier, the UAE had said that travel services for transit passengers from 12 African countries through local and international airlines would be resumed.
