Islamabad harassment case: Female victim withdraws statement, refuses to pursue case

Islamabad Additional Sessions Court has set the date of indictment of Usman Mirza wherein the accused sexually harassed and tortured a young couple. 

According to reports, the court has fixed September 28 as the date for indictment. Judge Atta Rabbani heard the case in the presence of strict security arrangements and the 7 accused, including Usman Mirza the main accused in the case, were distributed copies of challans. 5 of the accused, Usman Mirza included, were booked in court after the videos of them sexually harassing and torturing the young couple went viral on July 6.

Details state that Usman Mirza and other accused, who had fled to different cities, have been arrested by the police, and cases have been registered against them. Both the victims have been married and the culprits are in jail on judicial remand.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has also ordered strict legal action against the accused. In the viral video, the accused is seeing torturing the girl, trying to remove her clothing during which the victim kept begging them to stop. IG Islamabad Qazi Jamil Rehman also took immediate notice of the incident and ordered SSP operations to arrest the culprits immediately. The arrested suspects include Usman Mirza, Farhan, and Atta Rehman.
