4th September: According to news reports on Thursday, famous British actor Robert Pattinson has tested positive for COVID-19.

As a result of this, the production of the film “The Batman” has been halted. This goes on to highlight the struggles of the industry to get back to business after months of the pandemic-induced lockdown.

Movie studio Warner Bros. stated that “a member of ‘The Batman’ production” in Britain had tested positive for the coronavirus, but they did not reveal the identity. “Filming is temporarily paused,” the statement further shared but they did not say for how long.

Variety, the Hollywood Reporter, and Vanity Fair have all provided sources which have claimed that the person who tested positive was Pattinson, the film’s star.

However, Warner Bros. and Pattinson’s representatives did not return any calls to answer the question. It was not clear to what extent the 34-year-old ‘Twilight’ actor was suffering from the symptoms of COVID-19.

Filming for the movie had resumed north of London only three days ago after it had been shut down in mid-March. Several other movies and TV shows have also resumed filming across the globe after they were halted due to the coronavirus.

COVID-19: More than 24.46 million cases reported worldwide

‘The Batman’, in which Pattinson stars as the comic book hero, still has almost three months of material left to shoot, according to Hollywood trade outlets. Therefore, its release was pushed ahead earlier this year from June 2021 to October 2021.

Movie and TV productions are struggling to restart again in the United States since they have to follow complex safety procedures including testing, quarantine, and social distancing on sets.

This is extremely challenging as the productions have employed not only actors, but several crew members, makeup artists, extras, and other production staff who all need to follow these steps.
