Washington, 11th June: Violence could escalate in India if conditions do not change, the US ambassador has sounded the alarm.

US special envoy Brownback reportedly expressed grave concern over religious freedom in India. If not controlled, violence could escalate.

According to details, the US State Department held a press conference on religious freedom via video link, in which US Special Envoy Samuel Brownback said that India has historically been the land of all religions but India’s current situation raises serious concerns.

Brownback said there was concern about religious minorities being made scapegoats for the corona, and that it was not right to hold religious minorities responsible for the coronavirus.

The US ambassador said that India was overlooking the treatment of minorities regarding COVID-19 and if the situation in India did not change, violence could escalate. Access to health and other services for every citizen should be made possible and minorities should not be targeted on the issue of coronavirus.

US Special Envoy Samuel Brownback added that the situation of religious freedom in Pakistan and Sudan is gradually improving.
