Here’s my humble assessment. The Chaudhry’s, while a mafia are not known to desert their partners midstream. Mostly! They stuck by Nawaz, till he deserted them and his entire party and ran away in the hours of darkness to Saudi Arabia without telling anyone after his deal with Gen. Musharraf.

They stuck by Musharraf with Pervez Ilahi famously declaring “we will elect Gen. Musharraf a hundred times as President in uniform”.

They stuck with Zardari during their 2008 -2013, despite massive pressures to leave Zardari. If some may recall, Ch. Pervez Ilahi was nominated as a Deputy Prime Minister during the PPP government!

Finally, they don’t trust the Sharifs at all and if I may say, have an emotion bordering on hate for NS!

They are long-term players like Iman ul Haq, not 20/20 players like Shahid Afridi, and know which side their bread is buttered.

If they do vote against Imran, their politics are over and in my humble opinion, I do not see them surviving the voters’ backlash in a subsequent election. So I don’t think they will vote against IK, not because they love him but out of sheer survival.

Jehangir Tareen and Aleem, in my opinion, are behaving like “women scorned” and putting pressure on Imran for two reasons.

1. To force him to reach out to both, personally, meet them and seek their support and feel vindicated, in their minds, of the shabby treatment they think was meted out to them by Imran.

In my opinion, Imran will not do so personally but will communicate with them through interlocutors as he is doing now.

He may make up to them later, after the vote, but not by being pressurized or blackmailed by them in the fashion they are attempting.

2. They want him to replace Buzdar. Again Imran will not do so if he feels he is being threatened and blackmailed in this fashion.

Again, he may do so after the vote of no confidence fails, but of whatever little I know of him, not now.

Interestingly, JKT and Aleem, both know how stubborn and obstinate Imran can be, when he feels he’s being threatened and I feel both may have overplayed their hands. Imran will not blink!

So in my opinion, they will NOT vote with the opposition, even if they legally could, given various interpretations of 63A.

And if they do, like the Chaudhri’s, in my opinion, they and their supporters can kiss their politics goodbye, come the next elections. Both will go back to making money. JKT to his sugar mills and Aleem Khan to Samaa TV and Silkbank.

I’m quite convinced that Gen. Bajwa is fully behind IK, knowing the terrible consequences of the Sharifs or Zardaris back in power. All this talk of “neutrality” is hogwash. Imran enjoys massive support and popularity in the Army’s rank and file. Gen. Bajwa, despite what one hears of his fairly public views on some of IK’s decisions, like keeping on Buzdar, will fully stand behind him as he and the institution should and make up for its wrongs in the past.

And for the record, there are many in Imran’s closest circles who have the same opinion on Buzdar, but this doesn’t deduce to Gen. Bajwa supporting the opposition. Guaranteed! This I know for sure!

Here’s another very interesting, but unconfirmed footnote to this whole circus. Yesterday, someone close to the action shared the following. MQM, Ch. Pervez Ilahi, Jehangir Tareen, and especially Aleem Khan are pretending to negotiate with the Noonies and Zardaris, to understand their game plan so PM IK and PTI can develop a strategy to counter the opposition’s moves and plans.

A kind of “noora kushthi” between them and IK – resulting in a huge unpleasant surprise for the opposition. Like I said, this last piece of information is unconfirmed but interesting, given from where it came!

Maybe perhaps at a much later date. So here are my odds about the vote of no confidence. There’s between a 10% to 20% chance of the vote of no confidence succeeding, if my assessment of what the Chaudhri’s, MQM, and JKT/Aleem will do, is incorrect.

80% to 90% probability of the vote of no confidence failing.

Finally, there is a small possibility, in a push comes to shove scenario, that Imran may even dissolve the assemblies and we have an early election.

But only death is guaranteed and certain and Only Allah Knows Best.

But as I’ve been saying ad nauseum, despite everything that one can agree or disagree with about Imran, he is still our best fighting chance to reclaim Pakistan, change the system and give the poor and the disadvantaged of this country an equal and decent fighting chance to live and work in dignity, and save us from the gutter, stink, vomit and evil of the likes of the Sharifs, Zardaris, and Fazlus!

By the Grace of Almighty Allah, the vote of no confidence will fail! Insha Allah!.

Alhamdulillah. Ilahi Aameen.
