We should Learn from the Past and Reform ourselves in Light of Events: Chaudhry Shujaat

Lahore July 10 (Online Int’l): The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President has said that we should all learn from history and refom ourselves according to events.

He said that former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif had asked for arresting Maleeha Lodhi in a who was Chief Executive of a leading media outlet at that time, in a sedition case. Differing on this, I said that this step will not send a good impression amongst the journalists and international communities.

The discussion was in progress still. Some people were in its favour and some people were against it. In the meantime prayer time came and Mian Sahib said that we will talk on this after prayers. After the prayers I saw that the majority of the people who were in support of the arrest had gone. I along with a couple of supporters said to Mian Sahib that the result of the arrest of Maleeha Lodhi will not be good. In the meantime one person said to me that what you are saying is right and you play the role of understanding and appreciation. I asked that person to talk, on which he said that his going to Mian Sahib will create the wrong impression and Mian Sahib will wonder he is supporting Maleeha Lodhi.

Chaudhry Shujat Hussain said that in the matter of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, with regard to the accusation on our party I would like to say that according to the circumstances, through mutual thinking of understanding and appreciation on my part and that of Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, the matter was solved. The common man could not imagine what would be the situation when the police along with arms will be standing on one side of the road and madrassah students on the other, waiting for the orders of Maulana Fazlur Rehman. On this  occasion I would essentially that in those circumstances Maulana Fazlur Rehman demonstrated far-sightedness and due to our strategy it happened for the first time in the history of Pakistan that religious clerics and the police were standing on a few steps distance from each other but no fight took place and not even a single glass was broken in the whole of this event.

He said that I would ask Imran Khan to try to solve the problems of Mir Shakilur Rehman, 24 News and other newspapers through mutual consultation, which I hope will all be solved because all things should be forgotten to solve the crisis of our country. In this connection the Information Minister Shibli Faraz can also play his role.
