Islamabad July 10 (Online Int’l): Prime Minister Imran Khan has observed that the international community praises Pakistan’s smart lockdown strategy against the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

The Prime Minister said this while talking to the Advisor on Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan who called on Imran Khan in Islamabad on Friday.

Imran Khan emphasised the need to strengthen the role of the Parliament in resolving public-related issues, adding that Parliament should focus on constitutional amendments for public benefit. The opposition should also play its role in the best public interest, PM Khan added. Elections reforms, amendment in NAB ordinance and other matters of interest came under discussion.

Babar Awan greeted Prime Minister for an international organisation report which lauds Pakistan’s strategy to contain Covid-19 pandemic. PM Imran reiterated his stance that Pakistan could not afford a total lockdown and that was the reason he had always opposed it. He said that Pakistan is not a developed country which can afford a month-long lockdown, adding that the state cannot watch people die of hunger.

Prime Minister Khan has appealed to the public to strictly follow SOPs during Eid-ul-Azha holidays and participate in a collective sacrificial strategy so that the situation we had faced on Eid-ul-Fitr can be avoided.
