What is Trending Top on Twitter Today?
Lahore, 11th November: ‘#ApologizeUSembassy’ has become a top trend on social media today.
According to reports of Baaghi TV, earlier, a tweet by PML-N central leader Ahsan Iqbal was retweeted by the US embassy in Pakistan.
Then came a strong reaction in which the demand for an apology from Ahsan Iqbal as well as the US embassy became a trend.
Yesterday, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal shared an article by Ishan Tharoor, an Indian journalist published in the Washington Post, entitled “Trump’s defeat is a blow to the world’s corruption and dictators.”
Sharing this article, Ahsan Iqbal wrote that we also have one in Pakistan and it will come down very soon.
Ahsan Iqbal’s tweet was allegedly retweeted by the Twitter account of the US Embassy in Pakistan and later deleted in response.
Pakistani social media users reacted strongly to the US embassy’s tweet and demanded an apology from the US embassy.
#ApologiseUSembassy has become a top trend on social media. Social media users said that the US embassy had no right to interfere in Pakistan’s internal affairs. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi should take notice and seek a reply from the US Ambassador.
The US embassy is interfering in Pakistani politics, the embassy should follow the principles of diplomacy, claims Human Rights, Minister Shireen Mazari.
Dr Arsalan Khalid, Focal Person for Digital Media of the Prime Minister, wrote that strategic Twitter accounts are highly sensitive digital assets and any mistake made by them should be publicly corrected.
