Will Royal Visit be the Game-Changer for Pakistan?

ISLAMABAD (15th Oct, 2019): The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, arrived at the reception in a rickshaw being held in the state’s capital hosted by the British High Commissioner.

According to details, Prince William and Kate Middleton have arrived at the reception hosted by the British High Commissioner Thomas Drew CMG and Mrs Joanna Drew CMG, in a rickshaw. Apart from meeting with the President and Prime Minister, the royal couple reportedly also visited local schools and spent time with the children. It has been confirmed by the sources that the royal couple hopes to commemorate bilateral ties between Pakistan and Britain.

They surprised guests by arriving in a colourful auto rickshaw at the Pakistan National Monument in Islamabad.

 

The main event started with the national anthem at the reception which is currently being hosted by the British High Commissioner Thomas Drew CMG and Mrs Joanna Drew CMG in honour of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, happening now in Islamabad.

Reportedly, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Pakistan yesterday on a historic five day tour. They were guarded by a ring of steel with approximately 1000 officers. Prince William and Kate Middleton were presented flower bouquets by children. Moreover, it is the first royal visit to Pakistan in 13 years. The last one was by the Prince of Wales, Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla, in 2006.

The royal visit will have great impact on Pakistan’s tourism. The Duke and Duchess will be visiting northern areas during their visit. They will visit Gilgit-Baltistan and rugged border regions to the west, apart from their visit to Islamabad and Lahore.

The royal couple is likely to visit historic Badshahi mosque of Lahore as well. The mosque is considered to be one of Lahore’s most iconic landmarks. It was built by sixth Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in 1671.

The visit is expected to span over 1,000 kilometres, and will take in Pakistan’s rich culture and its diverse communities. The royal visit to northern areas of Pakistan will aid in advocating a positive image of the state in the international community. Ultimately, it may even help boost the economy towards growth.
