The UN theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”. First of all, Women’s day was celebrated in America. Where Charlotte Perkins Gilman addressed the crowd: “It is true that a woman’s day is centered in her home and motherhood but home should mean the whole country and not be confined to three or four rooms of a city or state”.

Today on 8th March 2023, women are globally celebrating this day to get gender equality and mainly “freedom”. Protests are being recorded but the question is whether this day or their [women] efforts are effective for past, present, and future. The answer is Absolutely Not.

Aafia with no Rights: Doctor Aafia Siddiqui disappeared in around 2003, along with her three children, in Karachi. She has been in prison for many years. “It is my judgment that Dr. Siddiqui is sentenced to a period of incarceration of 86 years,” said Judge Richard Berman who was in charge of the case on 23 September 2010. In criminal cases, the question of fact prevails not Law. But (on that Black day) no single piece of evidence was found against Aafia as per Judge Richard Berman. An iron lady Fowzia Siddiqui [Aafia’s sister] did start the AAFIA MOVEMENT that was aided by political, and religious parties, and human rights organizations in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Doctor Aafia hasn’t the right to move, to speak, and to talk with her family behind bars in the United States of America. She is cruelly being tortured.

Abu Akleh with no Rights: Abu Akleh, a television correspondent with Al Jazeera for 25 years, was killed by Israel on May 11 as she was covering an Israeli military raid on a refugee camp in Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank. 11 May was a black day for Media, Democracy and “Freedom of speech”. Did Israel kill, on that day, constitutional values and humanity or a “woman”? It has been seen many times Israel prefers to kill and torture women as they consider them weak. I did tweet a relevant cartoon (published by Dawn News) and received a comment by an Israeli citizen: “She is fallen and never stand”. Abu Akleh died and got no justice as she was a woman. No solid action was taken by the world out of reasoning even in the presence of clear evidences. Another “NURSE” [Woman] was fatally hit by a bullet shot by Israel as she tried to help evacuate the wounded near Israel’s border fence with Gaza. Her crime was her medical weapons and to be honest in duty.

Asiya with no rights: Asiya Andrabi (Founder of Dukhtaran-e-Millat) has been arrested by the Republic of India for many times: to suppress her voice for rights. She was deprived to live in her own house. The National Investigation Agency opposed Asiya’s appeal against the seizure of the house under sections 2(g) and 2(h) of the UA(p) act. She has been facing multiple hurdles as she is the leader of “Kashmiri Women”. Her only crime is to speak for women’s rights. Another “real sad story” under the Government of BJP, two girls Sania and Shifa (aged 5 and 9, one murdered and another rescued) playing outside their house were lured with candies and kidnapped and, raped by a 25-year-old hindutva extremist in Ghaziabad’s Modinagar area in Uttar Pradesh, India. Rapes of Muslim Girls increased in India after the Narendra Modi government released “11 rapists of Bilkis Bano” and welcomed with sweets outside the prison and, garlanded them at RSS Office.

The aforesaid and many other women are facing severe problems in education, life, freedom, and freedom of speech and movement. These issues had never been solved: Only the 8th of march (with a new theme not acquiring the previous) is being celebrated. The whole year/life should be dedicated not celebrated rather than a day to solve women’s issues and to preserve their rights. International Human Rights Organizations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, The World, and The Islamic Republic Of Pakistan [FO] should play their crucial role to protect the “Oppressed Women” in the whole world.
