YouTube launches download feature for desktops

YouTube is the world’s most popular video sharing site, however, one feature it lacks is allowing users to download content on their personal computers.

There is no shortage of ways to download YouTube videos on the web version, but those methods require third-party sites that can be quite dangerous or record the videos.

But now, at long last, YouTube has decided to introduce a simple solution for computer and laptop users – adding a download button.

According to an Android Police report , this experimental feature is currently available for premium subscribers only, which is not surprising as they already have the facility to download mobile videos.

In the web version, this download button will be available with the share option and when opening a video, it will be located in the three-dot menu while browsing.

When a video is downloaded, it will be saved in offline “YouTube video”.

It will be possible to watch these videos in various resolutions, from 144p to 1080p.

Apparently, any video can be downloaded with this feature and the only restriction might be one’s own available storage capacity.

It is unknown at this time if this feature will be available for all users or not.
