101-year-old senior prisoner to be released by Lahore High Court?: Report
According to the report of Baaghi TV, Justice Raja Shahid Mehmood Abbasi issued the verdict on the request of prisoner Mehdi Khan. The court directed the Home Ministry to decide on Mehdi Khan’s application under the Jail Manual Roll.
The Lahore High Court in a written decision said that a decision on the application should be taken within 3 weeks of the issuance of certified copies of the decision. On March 3, 2020, AIG appeared in the Punjab Prisons Court. AIG Punjab said that Mehdi Khan’s application is pending in the Interior Ministry. Mehdi Khan requested that a medical board be set up to check his condition.

In a written decision, the court further said that Mehdi Khan had requested the court to order his release under Jail Manual Rule 146. The lawyer said the prisoner is ill and over 100 years old. Mehdi Khan was convicted in a 2006 murder case in Gujarat. Mehdi Khan requested that a medical board be set up to examine his condition. The prisoner is ill and over 100 years old.
