RPOs and DPOs directed to improve matters of police stations

Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said that the role of supervisory officers is crucial for the betterment of police stations. Therefore all RPOs and DPOs should enhance performance of police stations under their control with effective supervision.

He said that equal resources and facilities should be provided to the investigation wing alongwith operation wing. IGP expressed that number of police personnel should be increased in police stations and the beat system should be kept functional.
Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that parchi system (safarchi culture) and tout culture should be eradicated from police stations while zero tolerance should be adopted against those responsible for corruption and abuse of power. IG Punjab said that work of police officers is in the field and we are to ensure service and safety of citizens. He directed RPOs and DPOs to undertake inspections of police stations on regular basis and review the working of all sections during the inspection. IG Punjab emphasized that death or torture under police custody is not accepted and wherever, such an unfortunate incident occurs, the responsible persons as well as the supervisory officers will have to answer. He issued these orders while giving instructions to the officers on the occasion of inauguration of new building of Neela police station in Chakwal today.
IG Punjab inspected various parts of the newly constructed building of Neela police station and issued instructions to improve the public service delivery. He directed that all the citizens coming to the police station should be treated with good manners and no effort should be spared in solving their problems. Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that I have started visiting police stations of all districts across province and my aim is to make service delivery more easy and fast track for citizens. IG Punjab emphasized that no delay in registration of FIRs is tolerable, in addition to timely registration of cases, the quality of investigation should also be improved to resolve them in a timely manner. On this occasion, RPO Rawalpindi and DPO Chakwal briefed IG Punjab about law and order situation.
DPO Chakwal told that, old building of police station Neela was constructed in 1892 which was far away from main road. Now a new building of Neela Police Station has been constructed on Chakwal-Attock Main GT road for easy access to citizens.
