SWABI – August 21, 2025: At least 42 people have died following heavy rains and multiple cloudbursts in Swabi district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, local officials confirmed on Tuesday.
According to Deputy Commissioner Nasrullah, the worst-hit area was Dalori Bala village, where a cloudburst destroyed 17 houses and buried around 40 people under debris. Rescue teams later recovered 37 bodies, while three injured survivors were shifted to hospital.

In Sarkoi Payan, another cloudburst claimed four lives, while the body of a young man swept away by floodwaters in the Colonel Sher River was also recovered. Officials added that in total, 42 deaths have been recorded across Swabi due to the extreme weather.

The Deputy Commissioner reported that 27 houses were damaged at various levels, in addition to those destroyed completely. Relief and restoration efforts are ongoing, with local administration and rescue agencies working to provide shelter and basic facilities to the victims. The provincial government has also announced special financial assistance for affected families.
Authorities have urged citizens to stay alert, follow safety guidelines, and take precautions amid the continuing risk of heavy rainfall and flooding in the region.
