49th Martyrdom of Major Shabir Sharif Shaheed celebrated today

Lahore, 6th  December: Today marks the 49th year of the martyrdom of Major Shabir Sharif Shaheed, son of the Pakistan Army and Nishan Haider holder in the war of 1971.

During the war of December 1971, India suffered a severe setback on the Western Front. When India invaded West Pakistan on December 3, Major Shabir Sharif Shaheed was ordered to make continuous advances and push the enemy back to its borders on the relevant front.

In this battle, Major Shabir Sharif Shaheed, while defending the homeland on the front line of Gormakhara, took command of his troops in such a way that stories of their bravery can still be heard in the Pakistan Army.

On December 6, Major Shabir Sharif was hit by a shell thrown by the enemy and he lost his life. In a critical condition before his death, he sent a message to his comrades that the defeat of the enemy was imminent.

On the occasion of the day of martyrdom of Major Shabbir Sharif, celebrations are held all over the country and Fateha is being offered on the grave of the martyr.

To pay homage to Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider for supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at the monument of Shaheed at Lahore.

Major General Raza Aizad laid Floral wreath on behalf of General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

The ceremony was attended by relatives of shaheed.

Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR) pays homage to Major Shabir Sharif Shaheed for his bravery and great sacrifice of martyrdom.

DG ISPR tweeted on his handle, “Tribute 2 Maj Shabbir Sharif Shaheed, NH, recipient of Sword of Honour, SJ in 65, NH in 71. He symbolises valour & patriotism. His heroic actions in 65 & 71 wars remind us, it’s not numbers but faith, devotion & courage in adversity which make nations triumph.”
