LAHORE, February 04: The Hindu supremacist Modi government has imprisoned the Kashmiris in the world’s largest jail for 550 days and the human rights of oppressed Kashmiris are being violated every day. Regrettably, gang rape of women, extrajudicial murders, illegal arrests and torture are continuous for many decades in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) as more than 95,741 oppressed Kashmiris are martyred since 1989. Meanwhile, another 7,163 Kashmiris have been killed during arrests and 22,924 women have become windows.
These views were expressed by the Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan while addressing a press conference at DGPR office about Kashmir Solidarity Day being celebrated today (February 5).
Addressing the media, Dr Firdous said that India is following a state-sponsored policy of oppression and brutality against the hapless Kashmiris to suppress their justified demand for freedom. She said Indian oppression has orphaned 107,813 children while the rape of Kashmiri women has become a daily routine as 11,234 women have become a victim of gang rape. It is regretted that the number of unreported incidents of sexual violence and torture is even greater than it. Similarly, the world is perplexed over the discovery of thousands of nameless collective graves in the occupied valley, she further said.
The Special Assistant said that Australian journalist CJ Werleman disclosed the presence of more than 6 thousand such graves. She said Genocide Watch has already alerted the world about the genocide of Muslims in IOK and Human Rights Watch in its recent report has also condemned human rights violations in the Occupied Kashmir by India.
Dr Firdous said that a ceremony will be held at the Governor House to express solidarity with Kashmiri brethren. The ceremony will be attended by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, Governor Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar and assembly members while ceremonies are also planned in divisions and districts to sensitize the youth about the sensitivity of the core issue of Kashmir. She said every Pakistani is raising its voice for the oppressed Kashmiris and Prime Minister Imran Khan has fulfilled the promise of advocating the Kashmiri cause at every forum. Pakistan will continue its full diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmir issue, she added.
The SACM said the opposition has been badly exposed and the people have recognized their evil face. The parliament is responsible for ensuring transparency in the country and if the parliamentarians are chosen through horse-trading then what sort of transparency is demanded by the PDM, she added.
Dr Firdous said the opposition wants that the filthy rich buy people through back doors but ‘show of hand’ in Senate election is the strength of every party and the same has been proposed by the PM Imran Khan. She said that PTI wants to bring an end to the use of dirty money in elections as looters are enjoying their mansions abroad by putting the economy on a ventilator.
She said these are the people who used the law for their benefit and deceived the people. Both Maulana and the fake Queen are politically deceiving each other as they repeat a different mantra before the people while continuing their fight for the protection of looted money. The PDM leadership has no confidence over each other and they are moving from pillar to post because their political future is bleak and they are looking for some sort of nirvana. The people are fed up with the politics of PDM, she added.
Responding to a question, the SACM said that the Election Commission has proposed to hold Local Bodies (LB) elections in the 1st week of June in Punjab while the government has proposed the 22nd of August. She said the Punjab government wants to hold LB elections in three phases as it is proposed to hold elections in 3 divisions in one month. Without the devolution of power, the dream of genuine democracy can’t be materialized therefore, the Punjab government has proposed the necessary amendments to provide socio-economic autonomy to local bodies institution, she concluded.
