Federal Cabinet approves National Security Policy: Moeed Yousuf
ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet has approved the Pakistan’s first-ever National Security Policy (NSP) 2022-2026, Moeed Yousuf said, adding that the policy will now be taken seriously with economic security.
According to details, National Security Adviser Moeed Yousuf tweeted on social networking site Twitter that the federal cabinet has approved the national security policy terming it “a truly historic achievement” for the country.
Moeed Yousuf said that the policy had been ratified by the National Security Committee (NSC) yesterday and with economic security, the policy would now be taken seriously.

It may be recalled that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan had approved the first National Security Policy in a NSC meeting chaired by him yesterday. The committee was briefed on the merits and demerits of the policy, according to which the national security policy would ensure the protection, security and dignity of the weaker sections of the country under a comprehensive national security framework.

It was stated in the briefing that the focus of the policy for the protection of citizens will be economic security, economic security will be the guarantor of protection of citizens. During the policy making, detailed consultations were held with all federal agencies, provincial governments, experts and the private sector.

The Prime Minister directed the National Security Adviser to submit a monthly report on the implementation of the policy.

During the meeting, National Security Adviser Moeed Yousuf briefed on the features of the policy and said that the national security policy would ensure protection, security and dignity of the weaker sections of the country under a comprehensive national security framework.

He said that economic security would be the focus of the policy for the protection of the citizens and economic security would be the guarantor of the security of the citizens. During the policy making, detailed consultations were held with all federal agencies, provincial governments, experts and private sector and a framework has been prepared to ensure implementation of the policy, he added.
