The thirty-fifth death anniversary of Punjabi folk singer Tufail Niazi is being observed today.
Tufail Niazi was born in 1926 in Madiraan village of Jalandhar district. After the establishment of Pakistan, he first settled in Multan and then moved to Lahore.
Tufail Niazi began his artistic journey with Nautanki theater productions, starring in iconic classical plays such as Sassi Pannu, Heer Ranjha, and Sohni Mahiwal, before transitioning to a singing career with his own Sangeet Party.
He sang many memorable songs for Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television.
Tufail Niazi also received the Presidential Pride of Performance Award.
He died on this day in 1990 in Islamabad.
