Uttar Pradesh Congress leaders Danish Ali and Imran Masood have alleged they were placed under “house arrest” while heading to protest-hit Bareilly, where security has been tightened amid the ‘I Love Muhammad’ row. Since the September 26 violence, 81 people have been arrested, while additional police reinforcements have been deployed across the city until October 4.

In view of the situation, the Bareilly administration has ordered a complete shutdown of internet services for the next 48 hours ahead of Friday prayers.

Saharanpur MP Imran Masood was also allegedly placed under house arrest as he was heading to Bareilly with his colleague Shahnawaz Khan.

Masood said that his only plan was to visit Bareilly for a meeting and return immediately, but the police administration did not allow him to even leave his house. He alleged that this was done under a political agenda.
