ISLAMABAD – October 9, 2025: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has successfully dismantled a major international drug trafficking network attempting to smuggle heroin from Pakistan to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to ANF officials, 11 suspects, including four women and a pharmacist, have been arrested in a series of coordinated operations.

The investigation revealed that the network was exploiting poor young couples, luring them with promises of lucrative jobs and a better future abroad. Once recruited, the traffickers coerced them into carrying narcotics by swallowing capsules filled with heroin, hidden inside their bodies to evade airport detection.

Officials confirmed that four young couples were arrested at two different airports while attempting to board flights to Gulf destinations. In follow-up raids, three additional facilitators were apprehended through advanced tracking and surveillance methods. Authorities have also identified several fugitive suspects connected to the network and have launched efforts to locate and apprehend them.

An ANF spokesperson stated that Pakistan remains steadfast in its commitment to preventing drug smuggling to any Gulf country, emphasizing that no trafficking route will be allowed to operate unchecked. The arrests highlight ANF’s ongoing efforts to dismantle organized drug syndicates exploiting vulnerable citizens for cross-border smuggling.
