Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Noman Ali has made a major move up the ICC Men’s Test Bowler Rankings, climbing to a career-best second place after a stunning 10-wicket match haul in the Test victory over South Africa in Lahore.

With this performance, Noman now holds 853 rating points, reducing the gap to just 29 points behind India’s Jasprit Bumrah, who continues to lead the rankings. The contest for the No.1 Test bowler spot is heating up, as Noman’s consistency with the ball has been instrumental in Pakistan’s recent Test success.

Fellow pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi also climbed three spots to 19th after claiming four wickets in the same match, reaffirming Pakistan’s bowling strength across formats.

Among batters, Mohammad Rizwan gained four places to 16th, Babar Azam moved up two to 22nd, and Salman Agha jumped eight positions to 30th after solid performances with the bat against South Africa. England’s Joe Root remains the No.1 Test batter in the world.

For South Africa, Ryan Rickelton’s 71 in the first Test lifted him into the top 50 for the first time, while Tony de Zorzi’s century pushed him up to 54th in the rankings.

In the ODI format, Australian players made big strides after their win over India in Perth. Stand-in skipper Mitchell Marsh rose two places to 42nd in batting rankings, while Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc moved up to 10th and 21st respectively among ODI bowlers.

India’s Mohammed Siraj re-entered the top ODI bowlers list at 17th after his comeback game, while Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz climbed six spots to 18th following his consistent spells against the West Indies.

In T20Is, England’s Harry Brook surged 18 places to joint-20th among batters, and spinner Adil Rashid climbed three spots to third among bowlers after England’s win over New Zealand in Christchurch.

With multiple players making waves across formats, the latest ICC rankings update reflects a week of standout performances — and all eyes will now be on Noman Ali as he continues his pursuit of Bumrah’s No.1 crown in the Test bowling charts.
