Amid rising incidents of attacks by resistance groups across India, a powerful explosion damaged a railway track in the disturbed Assam state ruled by the BJP government.

The blast occurred between Kokrajhar and Salakati stations in Assam’s Kokrajhar district early Thursday (October 23, 2025), disrupting train services and causing panic among passengers.

The explosion severely damaged a section of the track, prompting railway authorities to suspend movement on both up and down lines as a safety measure.

Several trains were halted at nearby stations, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded and triggering widespread anxiety. Teams from the railway department, security forces, and bomb disposal squads rushed to the site to assess the damage and launch an investigation.

The incident delayed 8 to 10 trains, after which patrolling was intensified around Salakati and Kokrajhar stations of the Alipurduar Division under the Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway), officials said.

The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) stated, “At approximately 1:00 a.m. on 23.10.2025, when the UP AZARA Sugar goods train was passing between Salakati and Kokrajhar, the train manager reported a heavy jerk, after which the train was stopped. On inspection, damage to the track and sleepers was found, suspected to be caused by a bomb blast. State Police, RPF, and intelligence agencies are investigating the incident.”

The blast has once again highlighted the fragile security situation in India’s northeastern region, where growing anti-government sentiments and attacks by resistance groups continue to challenge the BJP regime’s authoritarian regime.
